KUMIKO, THE TREASURE HUNTER

SYNOPSIS

In 2012 and 2013, I made a film called Kumiko, The Treasure Hunter. While making the film on two continents, I took photographs throughout the pre-production and production of the film. I tried to capture the “making of” aspect of the film, but I also set out to shine a light on the personalities, hearts and souls of the talented and wonderful people who collaborated to craft this amazing cinematic adventure. 

This past fall, my assistant Ellie Zambarano and I took on the task of making these photos into a book. We went through the thousands of images and slowly whittled down to our favorites, and then began putting them all together. Some pages artistically compare rehearsal and performance shots, while others display the crew members doing silly poses with props. The result is a 200 page photo book that chronicles the film from pre-production, all the way through awards season.
